Having a clean home is nice and important and it becomes extra difficult with our furry friends running around the house. So how does one keep the house clean in the mist of our four legged best friend roaming around the house? Via some research and trial and error Ive learned it is possible to keep your pets dirt at bay with just a few preventive measures and the use of some house-hold items that you probably already have on hand. Its all about consistency and patience, keep on reading and find out how some house cleaning tips to keep your place clean and keep your dog running free all at the same time.

 

1. Invest in a quality vacum cleaner

Consider the type of flooring you have in your home and if your pet goes on the furniture, look for one which friendly with upholstery too. Look for a pet appropriate vacuum cleaner to pick up pesky hairs and help banish odours. You’ll need an extra strong suction, quality filter and a good brush action to pull hair out rather than glide over the surface.

2. Nails trimmed is a must

Keeping your dogs nails trimmed is a good way to avoid nail damage. Scampering with too long nails will result in scratched leather sofas, 

 

3Take the dog out for daily walks

Just like kids dogs build up energy that needs to be released in the outdoors, Taking them for a daily walk is healthy for you and the dog. The end result is you will have a much calmer dog in the house

4. Wipe your pets paws when they come inside

A quick cleaning of the paws with a wet cloth or paper towel will asure to avoid in unwanted dog prints in your sofa, marble floors or rugs. This will also make house cleaning easier next time.

 

5. Regularly clean pet related things

 

Pet beds, toys pick up that strong dog odour and all need to be cleaned regularly. If they are not machine-washable you can wash by hand in the sink. Prefereably save this chore for a sunny day and allow them to dry outside where the sun will help kill bad odours.

6. Might be time to upgrade your sofa

If you can’t bear to push your dog out the couch it might be time to upgrade your current sofa. The wrong material can act like a hair magnet, hold undesirable odours and show up the slightest stain. While scouting your new sofa, we recommend to look for leather or tightly woven materials, if possible in a similar shade to your pets. If you can’t shop around for a new sofa yet, add pet friendly throw blanket .
